Influence from the 2019 Saugus High School Shooting
Markoff, who graduated from Saugus High School in 2023, later spoke about" Saugus Strong" and how it impacted his community in an article with Santa Clarita Valley's "The Signal"
“I wanted to start a new story because after a while, every house I passed by, it always said ‘Saugus Strong.’ Sometimes I feel like there should be at least some sort of a boundary. When I see ‘Saugus Strong’ around every corner I turn, it’s kind of a downer. It doesn’t let you leave the situation.”
