ABOUT
DJX Kbrokaysen’s "Saugus" album is a raw and deeply personal concept album that confronts the emotional aftermath of the 2019 Saugus High School shooting, which the artist experienced firsthand as a student. Blending elements of hip-hop, emo rap, and ambient R&B, the album serves as both a tribute to the lives lost and a vehicle for processing trauma. Tracks like “Kill Me,” “ME!,” and “Bleed Blue” explore themes of grief, survival, identity, and healing, capturing the weight of post-traumatic stress while also gesturing toward resilience. The production is sparse and atmospheric, incorporating lo-fi textures, ambient interludes, and emotionally vulnerable vocal performances that prioritize honesty over polish. Lyrically, Kbrokaysen doesn't just chronicle the pain—he interrogates it, questions what it means to move forward, and reclaims his voice through art. With Saugus, he transforms personal tragedy into a powerful expression of remembrance and emotional truth, offering solidarity to others impacted by violence and using music as a means of both survival and connection.
